Winter on the Farm.

This Winter has proven to be cold and wet, the rest of the country is covered in a layer or six of snow while we in the more southern area of the U.S. are swimming in our backyards. I am looking forward to March, hoping I will be passed these Winter blues and be ready for gardening. I wanted to be already done with planting in the greenhouse but with one thing after another, it seems that my planting days are slowly slipping by. March will be here soon enough though and I will be modifying my plans just a bit more. But for now, we have our memories of last Spring to look to. The pressed flowers I saved in my bibles are always wonderful reminders that soon, the world will be full of life.

March will bring lots of planting, new life in the chicken yard, new birds looking for refuge and refreshment, and so many blooms! I'm so excited!

But until then, we are left with the barrenness of Winter. The time between Christmas and Spring is one of such quiet solitude. The world around us is almost like its asleep. Gaining energy for Spring, much like us here on the farm. The farmer & I have been spending more time resting and working on household projects.

There's still so much I want to do before Spring arrives. I want my business to flourish, I want to create more beautiful things, I want to finish the Nancy Drew books that I've been reading each night before bed. But all in time! I hope you're all finding ways to enjoy this time of solitude and Earthly barrenness. Soon Spring will be here and we will all miss the slow-paced feelings of Winter.
