The Forgotten Falls.
I had said that I was naming the waterfall I discovered "The Forgotten Falls" but after this encounter I think we may do "Copperhead Falls"! 🤣😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
So I discovered a little waterfall on accident about a week ago. I was on the phone while the farmer was working in the woods and I started wandering away from the truck so the boys could nap. When I started walking into the woods. I heard a loud rushing sound and as I was talking I said, "why is that so loud?" And that's when I saw it! In the woods, about a four foot tall waterfall. I was above it on higher ground just marveling at it. It was so grown up all the way around it that there were only two places I could get to even get a video of it. So I've made it my goal to clean up all around the waterfall.
Copperhead Falls.
A few days later I decided to go back and start trying to clean up some. I was in my clogs this time so I wasn't feeling as confident as usual in my boots.
Usually I'm wearing my work boots which go over my ankle, they're lace up Georgia boots. I feel more confident in them because they're so thick all the way around.
So there I am carefully walking through the woods and the closer I get to the waterfall the more my "alarm bell" is going off. I call it my built in alarm, when something is off it feels like a ringing in my head and I can't focus on anything but the ringing. I pulled on some vines and tore a few limbs down. Then my husband walked into where I was. He saw that I was nervous to go down further even though I wanted a photo from below to really see the waterfall. So he grabbed my camera and was about to head down further when I smelled it.
I took a couple short sniffs then a long big inhale and then it hit me what it was, cucumbers. 🥒
I said, "Time to go." He started to protest on how he was going down further. I grabbed his shirt and looked him in the eyes and said "time to go, there's a copperhead somewhere and I can't see well enough to know where he is. Let's go." He definitely didn't protest that. As soon as we began walking away from that spot, no more cucumber smell.
We had gotten a little too close to someone else's hideout. 😬😬😬😬
I told my friends what had happened and they giggled remembering the last time I had found a man made waterfall and wanted to get a closer look. It was February also so thankfully snakes were moving slower. I literally was standing on the tail of a water moccasin. He began thrashing around and I jumped about 3feet in the air and then crawled up my friend (who was about 4'9" and maybe 90 lbs lol!) I crawled up her body and refused to be put down lol! 😂
So yeah, me and snakes, we don't jive like that. But I always seem to find them. 😅
Until next time,
-Lady of the Farm. ❤️
