Remember how we were on baby watch for Lullabelle for literally like forever?? Then the time she should’ve had the baby came and went and still no baby. All the others were having their babies, but not Lula! It was like every day “Baby Time?” Nope!
Two weeks ago, the farmer came to me and said, ”We have to have a talk.” Well the talk was about how Lulabelle may be infertile because she should’ve had a baby by now. With her being infertile she couldn’t stay on the farm. It was up to me but we could get her preg checked then decided whether we wanted to turn her into beef for our family or we could sell her at the sale barn and use the money to buy another cow.
My heart was literally broken.
Conversations like that really hit hard because ya know, I was diagnosed with infertility. So I just kind of sat in silence.
He kept driving on and said, “You can think on it.” I asked how long I had and he said “Two weeks”.
TWO. WEEKS.
I told him I was going to pray about it then I’d get back to him but in two weeks I declared she’d be pregnant.
Today made almost two weeks.
My brother in law texted me early this morning a photo of a baby calf and it said, “Lulabelles Baby” and my heart skipped a whole beat!
I said “Are you sure????”
I decided to go after I left the dentist, but between the heat and two teething babies, it just wasn’t going to work out. So this evening we went to the pasture to see her.
Of course with any new mama cow you worry, will she take up with the baby? Will she reject it? Will she let it suck? Will she be a good mama?
So we sat watching awhile, and after a good minute of playing, ”are you my mama?” Lula finally found him and he began sucking on her. Whew. GOOD SIGNS YOU GUYS! GOOD SIGNS!! 💕
So now the next step, what should we name this little one?? Not sure on gender yet but we think it may be a boy. 🐮
