Training your Chickens.

So you have some backyard chickens now, and you want them to come when called. I am the queen of training chickens to come to my own personal voice. It is HILARIOUS.

Code word is "Chickie-poos".

I can go outside and in a very high-pitched voice sing, "Chickie pooooooos" and all the chickens can hear me because of the "poos" carrying through the air. So they come running as hard as they can go. It's so humorous.

So, how did I do it?

When you go to feed your chickens, come up with a way of calling them. If your voice can carry, use it! If you can't make your voice carry, use a cowbell or similar item. I love the sound of cowbells.

When you go to feed them treats, use the bell or code word EVERY SINGLE TIME.

They will start associating the sound with treats.

Then, even when you don't have treats, use the bell or code word to call them up and give them plenty of attention. Soon they will associate it with you! Then you too can show people how you've trained your chickens to come when called.
