The warm light made its way through our bedroom this morning, the house was a little chilly and the farmer's voice cheerfully awoke me.
"You're my little cinnamon biscuit aren't you?"
I smiled knowing he was talking to the boys and they were happy. We call them our little biscuits after the dog, "Biscuit". That is their favorite book for whatever reason.
I sat up in the bed and stretched. The farmer stood feeding the boys and talking to them about how they were his little biscuits. It was such a beautiful sight. After we fed the boys, we got a shower and went out to the chicken yard to pick up eggs. The Farmer checked on everyone while I gathered eggs and dreamed.
I told the farmer last night that I'd like to bring our homestead back to life. While I was pregnant, I didn't get much done at all. The entire homestead began to go down little by little. Looking at it now, it's so different. It's sad.
But with the new year, I have one main goal, and that is to clean up our homestead and develop it into what I dream of. I already have my garden spot picked out and once harvest season is over I will have help cleaning everything up. I'm working on my garden set up drawing today.
I have learned so much about myself this past year, and one thing I learned was that my heart is the heart of a homesteader who is still feeling around the homesteading world. There's so much I have still to learn, but I am so determined to be able to live off this little homestead and be as self-sufficient as I can be.
What are some homesteading things you'd like to read on that I could learn more about?
