I pulled my mask up for the millionth time. I hated wearing a mask, but who doesn't? I have to wear them at the markets since it's a school-owned property and that's the rules.
Today was the final day of the Fall Market. A customer walked by my table and I grabbed her with my usual produce season grabber, "Hey! How are you?!" Then pulled her in with my Feather Jewelry lines, "All the feathers come from our farm in Enigma, Ga. I can tell you which type of animal each one comes from, We have the barred rock, the teal duck, the guinea, golden pheasant..." I could say it all in my sleep if you really wanted me to, but the thing was, I loved it. I loved the customers faces when I was able to tell them every single feather I have on the table. I was so tired though and all I could think about was getting home to take a nap.
I looked at the time on my phone after a few customers left. 11:57.
The market would be over in about three minutes and I would be back to selling from home and online. I slowly packed up my stuff and prepared for the last moment.
I felt like a kid again on the last day of school watching the clock for school to let out. A few of the vendors came and bought jewelry from me and I began to load my things up. Next season the market is open would be Spring if that dang covid doesn't decide to make a return. I pray not. But next season, in the Spring, I will be knee deep in produce season, wearing my jean shorts and the iconic red Walker Farms shirts. I looked at the time,
"12:15.", I whispered to myself.
Whoa! Where'd the time go? I was chattering away with other vendors and grabbing a couple Christmas gifts. Time seems to fly when you're tired. I haven't been sleeping well at night. Last night I dreamt of having a vow renewal with the farmer, which was as stressful as the wedding was. The night before I dreamed I was stuck inside a gas station during a hurricane.
I needed rest. I headed out and looked back, "See y'all next season!" and headed home to prepare my business for the Winter months and get a much needed nap.
