Slowing Down in the Summer

I am a Fall/Winter type of girl, let's just go ahead and get that out of the way. I enjoy cozying up with a big bulky sweater and a bowl of freshly made stew. I enjoy the chill of the crisp air and wearing my favorite jacket around the farm. But this Summer I have found myself trying harder than ever to embrace these small slow living moments that truly make the Summertime memorable.

Like:

  • Slipping into my bathing suit daily for a quick dip in the pool while the babies nap or after they go to bed for the night.

  • Taking a walk through the garden and showing the boys the produce that we are growing in our little family garden!

  • Giving the twins popsicles after they've played on the splash pad at sunset.

  • Going for evening rides around the farm to check on the cattle and crops.

  • Embracing my thin cotton sundresses!

  • Naps during the heat of the day, then exploring the homestead when the temps begin to dwindle down.

  • Eating seasonally! Tomato sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, and salads!

  • Visiting as many farmer's markets as possible to just browse, eat good food, and buy flowers!

  • Buying iced coffee and strolling through the park on Saturdays at the market.

  • Going to the peach sheds and eating peach ice cream!

What are some things you enjoy about the Summertime? Do you enjoy Summer, Spring, Winter, or Fall?
