So many of us would love to have some extra income coming into our homes. After doing some serious searching I have come up with a list of things you can do from your home (or farm) for a little extra money. If you do any of these or decide to do one, let me know how it works out!
Write. If you're creative, write a book. Sell it as a hardcover or Ebook. If writing books isn't your thing, then try writing for an online company. I actually did this for awhile and I really enjoyed it! I worked for an interior design website writing articles. The way I found it was by going to www.upwork.com. You can find online jobs by searching through fixed price or hourly. Hourly is my favorite because you're guaranteed your paycheck if you do your work.
Sell food. Cakes, pies, jellies, jams, etc. Of course you'll need to figure out your states rules and regulations for this but you can easily make these foods and sell them. Sell them from your home, the farmer's market or get a store to sell it for you.
Make Candles. People love candles. People like me will spend a fortune on candles. It's a good idea! You can make them in any kind of scent using essential oils.
Turn your home into a bed and breakfast. This one is a little risky because you never know who you're opening your home up to. But if you decide to, you can open your home to people wanting to have a getaway to a farm or something. You can advertise to people you know who deserve a vacation but can't afford a 5 star getaway.
Become a florist. You can arrange the flowers in your home and deliver them easily to whoever. Have people pick out flowers, describe what they want, and you arrange them. You can get a certificate or license showing you're a florist.
Roadside Fruit Stand. This is what The Farmer does during the Summer. A roadside stand close to a main road in town, the highway or even at a place a lot of people go. People love fruit and they love it even more if it's fresh fruit.
Make soap. Soap is something that will never go out of style and with people becoming more and more health conscience, making homemade soap is a pretty good idea if you ask me. You can give it your favorite scent, tie it up and sell it online or out of your home.
Sell flowers. This one is pretty easy, find some flowers, tie your flowers together and wrap some tissue paper, newspaper or butcher paper around them. You'll be amazed at how many people would love just some random wildflowers tied together beautifully to place in a window sill.
Blog. Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme or even a million dollar idea. It is not for everyone and you will more than likely not make a billion dollars within your first couple years.
Keep bees. Keep bees and sell your honey and beeswax. People will pay a little extra knowing that it is natural and local. Also, local honey is good for allergies. (You can use that when Spring comes around for advertising..)
Rent out your land for events. I'm currently planning a wedding and honestly, if your land would be a good backdrop rent it out for weddings, birthdays, and other events. Down South, rustic southern weddings are popular. If you have a nice farm you can set up a nice rustic area for events. Also, if you want to take it up a notch create a barn or chapel like area for weddings. Around here there are few venues, and the ones that are around here cost anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000 for a weekend.
