The year is 1926. It's February 7th.
The weather outside is so cold & frigid.
The old farmhouse feels so drafty this time of year. I think back to all those times I should've gotten the farmer to fix the floorboards and the windowsills during the warmer months. Not like we could've afforded to anyway, farming had been rough lately.
The old floorboards seem to creak and moan as the house gets colder and colder. But the fireplace crackles and pops filling the little living room with warmth. I throw another log in the fire then I sit down in my chair close to the fireplace and wrap a blanket around me. The GRIT magazine story section just got delivered this morning and I settle down to read as the bundled-up children play in the floor with their toy trains.
Here's a look inside my 1926 edition of the GRIT story sections:
Hope you enjoyed this "short story" written by Lady of the Farm. Photos are of a GRIT story sections magazine from 1926 that I got at The Lieutenants Rest Antique's in Irwinville, Ga. You can find his page on Facebook by clicking here.
