"Little Boo" & The Mustard Sweater

I call him, "Little Boo." He's the ghost in my sweater pocket.

The iconic mustard sweater story begins back when I worked at the hotel. It was Fall; I believe it was before the farmer and I got married.

I was in Walmart with my boss and saw this mustard sweater. I just had to have it.

I began wearing it on the chilly days at the hotel. During the smoke breaks when the girls would be smoking & in the hallways that felt like ice during the Winter. It went perfectly with my maroon uniform.

This sweater was my comfort during the chilly mornings after I became a housewife. I'd wrap her around me and make my morning coffee and watch the fog lay over the fields.

Then when we began trying to have our babies, guess who was there to keep me warm in the hospital? That's right! Mustard sweater!

During my miscarriages? Mustard Sweater was there!

During the months after the twins' birth? Yep! Mustard sweater!

Previous Fall markets? Again, yes.

But through all those memories that my mustard sweater has been present for, it's made her a little rough around the edges, kind of like me. Life wore her down. She's falling apart. Now, it's time to fix her. It's time to patch up her broken areas and help her to go into the next chapter with me!

I tried hand-sewing her up, but then I saw something worth doing that would work great for her! Give her more character.

On the Woodlark website which is a collection of the most beautiful projects. I found a felted ghost patch for clothing.

I went to the farmer's market this past weekend and grabbed some wool from one of the vendors. She explained to me how to work the wool, then I came home and began working on "Little Boo".

It took maybe 15 minutes before I got it looking right, then since I didn't have any black wool I used a marker for eyes and mouth. I still have some work to do on Little Boo, but he's just the beginning! I thought about adding some pumpkins next week over the other holes in the sweater. It's a sweater that I religiously wear in the Fall so why not, ya know? Plus, pumpkins make my heart happy and that's what this sweater is all about.

Stay tuned for the next mustard sweater update!
