Embracing the End of Summer and the Start of a New Season

The Summertime is coming to a close and this week we have tried to make the best of it.

We rode over to our local peach orchard,  it was early in the morning and we were the only ones there for a little while. We ordered our ice cream and sat at one of the picnic tables watching people slowly make their way in.

Peach season will be coming to a close soon.

We have begun to harvest the last bit of Summer stuff from my garden. It’s been a good season, but now it’s time to clean it all up. My pumpkins are growing well and I have reserved our first bin of pumpkins from our friends! I can’t wait for pumpkin and apple season to be here. We are beginning to plan our North Georgia apple pick up trip and I am super excited about that! I think we may spend a few days up there in the area before we stop by and grab our apples. Last year we did a whole farm tour, cider tasting, and walked through the back rooms where the apples are sorted, graded and bagged. It was incredible seeing the whole process and in the process we made some new farmer friends.

I’m nervous about August.

August is here and I’m nervous mainly because I remember last August. We almost went out of business last August. It was rough and apples closer to the end of the month was what saved us. Now here we are back at the start of another August. I wanted to close the store during August, but I was talked out of it. Nevertheless, we are on the eve of another August and stating that I am nervous is an understatement.

Here’s to another August & the end of the Summer.

It's a little crazy. I've been working on this book for a year now and it feels like that was my itty bitty baby for a while. Late nights...
