DIY Natural Cleaner

I don't like the chemicals in cleaners. Like, at all. But sometimes I still have to use them... Here's why I don't like them:

When I worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the hotel in town, I would check behind the girls after they had cleaned their rooms. Sometimes the smell of chemicals would linger and it'd be so strong it would take your breath away. When you go to a hotel, you know that "clean" smell? Yeah, that's commercial bleach and it is SO STRONG at times.

One time, I was cleaning a room. The bathtub was HORRID. I still gag at the thought of that tub. But I used so much bleach not realizing that the entire batch of bleach was made stronger than usual. I got a chemical burn inside of me and ended up with bronchitis. I could literally smell the bleach sticking to the inside of my nose on the way home and it was so strong that it made me lightheaded. Now, note I am not one of the people who gag on heavy perfumes, so for me to be lightheaded from this bleach is significant.

Since then, I have been more careful about what chemicals are brought into my home and what we use and don't. Definitely don't want a replay of that with the kids or animals.

So you're probably wondering, what do I clean my house with then? Most of my cleaners are white vinegar-based.

NOTE: If you want some of this cleaner, I make it and sell it in the marketplace here on my website! CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE MARKET.

Here is a recipe for a simple version of mine. I add a little extra fun stuff to mine so buy some and help support your girl LOL! But here is a simple, no-frills recipe for your own cleaner:

You'll Need:

  • A jar with a plastic lid. (metal will corrode after being exposed to the vinegar for a while.)

  • White Vinegar

  • Orange/Lemon Peels

In your jar, place the orange peels. Cover with vinegar and let it mellow in a dark place for two weeks.

Once it has infused, drain out the vinegar and place a cup of it into a spray bottle. Fill with water. You can place the drained vinegar in a jar (with a plastic lid) and pour vinegar back over the peels to start on your next batch. You can use the same peels once or twice, but then after that, the goodness is used up out of it so it's best to replace them.

You're welcome for this.
