Cold Days, Dreams, & The Swedes.

The cold days have snuck upon us. This morning the Fall morning light streamed through my linen curtains and the warm glow was what I woke up with. Waking up with the sun is my favorite part of working and living on the farm.

How I wished we lived further from the road. One day we hope to build a home and when we do, I want it to be deep in the woods and far from the road. The cabin I clean is far off the beaten path. You have to take a series of dirt roads to get to it and then go through two cow pastures. It is so freeing being there. You don't have to worry about random people stopping by or anyone running over your animals, you don't have to worry about people walking up and down the road. It's just so carefree out there. You can open a window and just let the breeze in without a single worry.

I feel like if we lived further into the farm we wouldn't have as many worries, just last week some guys stopped in my yard and blew the horn until I came to the door. It was pitch black out, no one was at the door, they wouldn't get out of the car, I could feel them watching me. I stood still, I happened to be on the phone with the farmer who was at the back of the field and he got off the tractor and headed my way. I let the dogs out of their pens and they began jumping on my screen door. When the people saw there were numerous dogs in my house just wanting to get ahold of them, they took off. I have not a single clue as to who it was or what they could've wanted. But that's not the first time strangers have shown up at my house.

In a home we build, I believe I'd like it to be a small two-story home. Kevin wants the two-story, I could care less. I grew up in a two-story home and to me, it just means more to clean. But I'd like it to be small, but full of character.

Wooden stairs, a clawfoot bathtub, a fireplace that works, wood floors, lots of rugs.

I'd like to start over with all new stuff.

I have been reading about and watching a lot of videos about the Swedish and I think they have this whole life thing figured out. I told the farmer that if we ever divorced or he died before me, I'd move to Sweden with nothing but a weekender bag of clothes and a coffee cup. If you ever get a chance, follow some random Swedish bloggers and you'll see what I mean.

It's a little crazy. I've been working on this book for a year now and it feels like that was my itty bitty baby for a while. Late nights...
