Breastmilk Soap & the Benefits.

Breastmilk Soap & the Benefits.

It began when I found myself in with a group of "crunchy" moms. One of them had a child with diaper rash and she mentioned that she was going to be giving the baby a breastmilk bath with some of her stored breastmilk. Of course, me not being a mom, not caring about breastmilk, and never having had breastmilk was like, "Wait...you're doing what ma'am???"

So that was when I first heard of the magic that is breastmilk.

When I was about to have the boys my doctors and I had no idea if I would be able to produce any milk or not.

My hormones are that of a 40 year old woman hitting menopause. So you can imagine my face when the lactation consultant paid me a visit in the hospital and said I was the best producer she had seen in awhile and that my milk would be in sooner than most women's. I was over the moon and had big plans of breastfeeding until I couldn't anymore.

I had no idea that both of my babies would develop milk allergies. Also, everytime I try to stop eating dairy so I can try breastfeeding again, I find myself eating something with dairy.

I am trying to keep my breastmilk supply up for now so I can keep a stockpile of breastmilk for other purposes. One of them being breastmilk soap.

Before you check out completely, hear me out.

Breastmilk has amazing healing properties. I don't know the ins and outs of it all yet. But it healed a bleeding & raw butt in three days, a severely blocked tear duct in two days, a minorly blocked tear duct overnight, and baby acne overnight. You can't tell me that's not incredible.

So when my supply began to nosedive I knew I had to stock up and find ways to not waste it. Because milk baths were wasting my stockpile QUICK. I saw on TikTok where women were making soap and so I did it. It would keep my babies skin healthy and clear & not waste what little I had stored.

Here's how I make it:

  • Goats Milk Soap Base

  • Breastmilk

With the soap I made for myself, I added lavender but for the babies I left it as natural as I possibly could.

All you do is melt down the goats milk base soap and then add breastmilk, just make sure the amount of breastmilk is less than the amount of goats milk soap. Then just pour it into a mold and refrigerate it an hour or until hardened.

Once its hardened, then you're ready to pop it out & store it.
