A Quiet Morning Rain.

I could feel it in the air yesterday, I knew it was coming today.

The air was sticky and clung to you like a leech. I told the farmer, "Guess who you get to be with all day tomorrow?" He looked at me and his face turned into a slight smile. He already knew where this was going, I love rainy days for the snacks, the popcorn, the movies, the quality time not doing any work.

"Who?" I did a child-like smile and wave, "It's going to rain all day tomorrow!"

He shook his head furiously, "Nah, it's not going to rain. Hey daddy, did you hear Adrian? It's going to rain tomorrow." A reply came from the other side of the truck, "No it ain't! She better send it off. "

We all joke that I am a weather woman, I can tell them it's going to rain and predict the time it'll be there and 95% of the time, I am left only dissapointed that I didn't bet something with them.

I pulled up the weather app to corroborate my story. I went through every hour telling the story of a thunderstorm to come. They sat staring blankly at me until changing the subject to all the plans they would make for today. I sat smirking, they knew I was right.

Around six in the morning, I awoke. I don't know why I did, but I did. I laid in the bed rubbing my legs together in the sheets, we sleep with a plethora of blankets, sheets, and everything else that's comfy. Our bed had a feather pillow mattress topper and it's like sleeping on a cloud. But then I noticed something.

The sound of rain pitter, pattering on the tin roof above.

Then it got louder, and louder, and I knew that the bottom had fallen out of the cloud above. It was a beautiful sound, not only because I was right, but because this meant i'd finally get my husband to spend time with me around the house.

I pulled the sheets around me and smiled, this was the life. Rain on a tin roof, an ocean of soft blankets, and the man I love snoring beside me. The house was so peaceful, the dogs weren't tossing and turning as usual, everyone seemed to be enjoying the sound of rain this morning.
