10 Must Haves for your Hospital Bag.

When it came time to have the twins I had my bags packed and ready to go the night before. They sat on our couch and I sat nervously looking at them thinking, "This is it." I had spent weeks trying to make sure I would have everything I would need because the hospital I was giving birth at was on lockdown due to being a covid hotspot. We were on code purple.

We were not allowed to have anyone but my husband with me, not allowed to walk the halls except to get food from the cafeteria, not allowed in and out of the building. It was a total lockdown. So I knew I had to make sure to have anything & everything I would need. So, here's my list of necessities you need:

  1. Phone Charger. Your phone will be ringing OFF THE HOOK. I eventually turned mine on silent and got back with people when I had the chance.

  2. Comfy Robe. I wore nothing but a diaper, a nursing bra, and my robe the entire time I was in the hospital. It is definitely a necessity.

  3. Adult Diapers. The hospital gives you pads and mesh panties, but I would rather just wear the diapers. I used Always Discreet.

  4. Water Bottle. You can use the ones they have at the hospital or you can bring your own. I brought my own because it has flavor infusers in the cap. (A Cirkul water bottle)

  5. Breast Pump. I needed a breast pump, but they were all being used so I got a manual hand pump one, and at 3 am hand pumping for 30 minutes is the last thing you want to do.

  6. Boppy Pillow. We had our twin boppy pillow which made feedings a breeze. They also enjoyed laying in it instead of the bassinets.

  7. Self Care Items. There was nothing more refreshing than taking a shower then using my cucumber refreshing spray, washing my hair, & cleaning myself up.

  8. Snacks for Dad. Chips, crackers, beef jerky, dr. pepper cans, we had it all!

  9. A pair of pajamas. This is for those nights you just need a little sliver of normalcy. I was in the hospital for days so having a change of pajamas was nice.

  10. Thank You Cards. So this isn't a must, but I did enjoy seeing the looks on our nurse's faces when they received thank you cards with our boy's profiles from ultrasounds on the front.

What are some must-have things you took in your hospital bag?
